A&L Foods, located in Baltimore, MD seeks a local full-time Delivery Driver to make deliveries to customers, pick up merchandise from vendors, pick and pack orders, load and unload merchandise, perform safety inspections and preventive maintenance; maintain exterior and interior of truck.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate box trucks to transport goods and materials over short distances within a 15-20-mile radius; may occasionally drive within a 50-mile radius.
  • Provide excellent customer service, being responsive to customer's needs and procedures.
  • Check paperwork/invoices for accuracy, return paperwork to the office organized and orderly. Communicate any paperwork issues, product shortages, invoice discrepancies or any other customer issues to manager.
  • Assist in picking and packing orders for customers on the Local Route. Load truck prior to starting route.
  • Load and unload merchandise from pick-ups and deliveries; ensure merchandise is properly secured. Follow all safety procedures for transporting goods. Treat company and customer product and property with care.
  • Perform pre-trip, route and post-trip inspection of vehicle. Maintain a trip log, driver's manifest, and inspection report. Report any unsafe or serious mechanical problem to manager.
  • Maintain truck and associated equipment in good working order. Follow the regular vehicle maintenance schedule, including regular cleaning of interior and exterior of vehicle.
  • Must be accessible to accept phone calls from manager or other staff regarding customer deliveries or pickups during work hours.  If a call is received while driving, pull over to a safe location before answering.
  • Refrain from use of cell phone or other personal devices when the vehicle is in motion, including sending and receiving of texts and emails.
  • Follow all traffic laws, including driving within the posted speed limit, and obeying traffic lights and stop signs. Practice defensive driving. Report any incidents immediately to your manager.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • No unauthorized personal use or unauthorized persons allowed in the vehicle.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as needed/assigned, including assisting with pulling orders and loading the truck.

Education and Experience Requirement:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience driving delivery trucks.
  • Ability to operate and maintain vehicle in a safe manner at all times.
  • Knowledge of proper freight handling/loading techniques; pallet jack experience.
  • Must be flexible to work as needed to complete duties of the position.
