Our company develops and supports cutting-edge software solutions used by researchers in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and biobanking industries, as well as in research hospital, government and academic organizations, to manage and maximize their data.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will provide support to the Controller in processing and managing all day-to-day accounting and finance operations, including accounts receivable, budgeting, accounts payable, payroll and administration. The Senior Accountant will work with the Controller to ensure that correct systems and procedures are in place to support effective program implementation and effectively manage accounting and finance matters.  

Essential Job Functions

  • Support day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and HR support.
  • Maintain accounts, ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and client requirements.
  • Record and enter revenues, costs, payables, budgets and actual expenditures and reconcile accounting items
  • Assist with budgeting, budget management and cost controls.
  • Issue and track invoices
  • Help to prepare financial statements and other reports.
  • Monitor and analyze operating results against budget.
  • Play supporting role in presenting financial information to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Work with Controller and senior management in developing future business plans.
  • Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations, project/exhibit and resource allocations.
  • Work on special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance or accounting or related field is required.
  • CPA or other professional certification helpful.
  • At least 4 years of accounting and finance experience, some of which will ideally have been with a similarly-situated organization, or in an accounting firm.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or other similar accounting software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel

  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports and projections.
  • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis.
