Plano-Coudon, LLC is seeking an experienced Estimator with duties which include RFP proposal responses, conceptual budgeting, CM trade package bidding and lump sum bidding situations to be delivered under various construction delivery methods, and other duties described below.

The position is available immediately and is based in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Estimating Services

  • Update and maintain estimating software, support services and other technologies; update and maintain departmental reference materials; update and maintain department data, in particular the Master Call Sheet and Master Estimate template.
  • Review bidding document submitted by clients and identify specific requirements necessary for a complete bid; identify missing information and formulate questions to generate missing information.  Attend Pre-Bid meetings and site visits to prepare for bids.
  • Develop a detailed estimate template, customized for each bid; perform take-offs and in-house pricing as required to assist with estimates. develop budget and enter in draft estimate
  • Maintain a list of prequalified subcontractors, suppliers and vendors. As needed, identify and solicit new subcontractors, suppliers and vendors for bids. Remain knowledgeable of the marketplace to ensure adequate subcontractor, supplier and vendor database.  
  • Develop and maintain a Call Sheet for each bid; develop a Bid Invitation and use for direct solicitation of bids.
  • Review subcontractor bids and determine if the bid is subject to special exclusions or reservations. Evaluate the bid to ensure it covers the scope of work, enter subcontractor pricing into estimate template.
  • Identify gaps in the estimate to be covered with in-house estimate; provide in-house estimates as needed.
  • Identify and document qualifications and clarifications required for each bid. Submit with bid unless submission would render the bid non-responsive; prepare and submit a responsive bid as required by the client.
  • Review estimate (general contractor, and overhead and profit) prior to bid submission. 
  • Award subcontracts.

Other Estimating Duties

  • As needed, write Scope of Work for subcontractors and overall estimate.
  • Participate in scope review meetings as necessary.
  • Write Letters of Intent, assemble subcontracts as needed.
  • Utilize Timberline estimating software to prepare bids and budgets.
  • Participate in transfer of data from the Estimating department to Accounting.
  • Maintain detailed records of bidding results for all projects. Maintain Plan Room bid board and documents, maintain website bid board.
  • Mentor less experienced estimating personnel.

Professional Development

  • Attend training seminars for continuing education. Maintain advanced knowledge of estimating profession.

Education and Experience Requirement

  • 5+ years' experience estimating for commercial and institution construction projects
  • Experience using Timberline Estimating Extended Software and Planswift take off software
  • Ability to write, modify, and collaborate on specific scopes of work
