AFSA is a non-profit, federally chartered 501(c)(19) organization representing the professional and personal interests of the Total Air Force: active duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve Command, retired, veterans, and their families. We are currently accepting resumes for an accurate, dependable and customer service oriented individual to provide accounting support as a n Accounting Clerk.. 

The ideal candidate will be a team player with knowledge of basic accounting principles (i.e. GAAP), and bookkeeping (debits and credits).  Strong data entry skills, attention to detail and accuracy are a must.  Knowledge of accounting software and experience with Excel are a must.  Knowledge of IMIS database and Air Force organization are highly preferred. Knowledge or experience working with non-profits is preferred. 

Responsibilities:

  • Process new member and member renewal applications
  • Prepare funds receipts batches for accounting verification
  • Receive, batch and accurately process funds in a timely manner
  • Inputs data quarterly from Chapter Group Authorization reports
  • Process Accounts Payable in the Accounting database
  • Process Accounts Receivables
  • Processes refunds of duplicate payments
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Qualified candidates with a High School diploma or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practice, and a minimum of one (1) year of related accounts payable experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic accounting concepts (i.e. debits and credits, liabilities, etc.).
  • Strong oral and written communications skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel;
  • Physical demands include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
