The American Air Museum in Britain (AAMB) is seeking an enthusiastic and entrepreneurial person to manage the Museum's membership program from the United States. The Museum, although located in Duxford, England, is dedicated to preserving the memory of American Airmen who were stationed in the UK, and in particular, the 30,000 US air crew who perished in WWII flying missions from the UK.

The American Air Museum is part of the Imperial War Museum (IWM) in Duxford.  IWM is a family of five museums: IWM London; IWM North in Trafford, Greater Manchester; IWM Duxford near Cambridge; the Churchill War Rooms in Whitehall, London; and the historic ship HMS Belfast, moored in the Pool of London on the River Thames. The American Air Museum in Britain raises funding in the USA to support the work of the museum. The Membership Manager position will work closely with many departments at the IWM.

Communicating with members, fielding member questions, and any other member relations needs are also part of this position. You will also work closely with the major gifts fundraising program. Additionally, you will coordinate with the Imperial War Museum (IWM) on planned giving, digital campaigns, administration, and any other duties as assigned. This position will serve as a bridge between the US based Members and vendors and the UK based Museum.

This position will also support existing and new sector-based fundraising and engagement campaigns with strategy, communication, revenue tracking, invoicing, and data segmentation.

  • To maintain the US based AAM membership database, changing addresses and keeping membership information up to date
  • Facilitate member benefits including coordinating tours of the AAM, conference calls, fulfilling poster/member card requests, etc.
  • To provide an informed and efficient point of contact for AAM inquiries.
  • To carry out all administrative activities for the AAM's Planned Giving program
  • To maintain appropriate records to enable periodic updates to the Wall of Honor or other member recognition vehicle(s)
  • To work with other departments at the AAM and IWM regarding website updates including: adding issues of the AAM newsletter, changes to the Board of Trustees, donation pages, and other membership related updates as necessary
  • To process AAM membership contributions received by the department according to financial procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Position reports to the IWM finance department and to the AAM Executive Director
