BioFortis is a Columbia, MD-based software company focused on improving precision medicine by solving challenges in today's data intensive bioresearch environments. Our primary product is an enterprise platform for clinical research and biological sample data management.  We are looking for an Application Specialist who is self-motivated, and thrives on new challenges. 

Position Overview

The Application Specialist functions as a business analysis, configuration specialist, and product expert resource for the Company's client delivery teams. The Application Specialist will have significant interactions with internal stakeholders, users of our software, and members of multidisciplinary teams.  

Essential Job Functions

  • As a business analyst, responsible for gathering business and functional requirements in client-facing projects, and translating these into technical requirements or configuration specifications. Also responsible for analyzing clinical trial study documents such as sample regimens and laboratory manuals to determine study specific configuration and setup needs.
  • As a configuration specialist, responsible for implementing system configuration specifications and clinical trial study setup within the system.
  • As a product expert, responsible for guiding internal project teams and clients in making requirements and solution decisions. Understands what is out of the box vs. configuration vs. customization with base software product platform, as well as performance, scalability, and usability considerations.
  • Provides support and documentation on system configuration design including integration, standards, and data modeling.
  • Participates in client training, client demos and client presentations as needed.
  • Participates in ongoing system monitoring and troubleshooting. Supports data QA-related activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science or technology (may substitute experience)
  • Experience working intensively with data and/or software systems setup
  • Experience working with clinical trials research-related data and/or software systems setup (e.g. CTMS, LIMS, EDC, Sample Tracking) a plus
  • Familiarity with relational databases preferred
  • Familiarity with SDLC preferred
