The role of the Carpenter performs the self-perform task as required by the project under the direction of the Operations Manager or SPD Carpenter Foreman.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General

  • The SPD Carpenter should provide excellent customer service at all times be positive and foster a collaborative work environment. 

Non Self-Perform Duties

  • Maintain a clean project site.
  • Make sure P-C is represented well on-site during all work.
  • Assist in enforcing P-C safety requirements.
  • Verify the quality of the workmanship being installed.
  • Order and/or rent material and equipment.
  • Attend weekly safety meetings and toolbox talks when required.
  • Attend all company meetings as functions as requested.
  • Review P-C's field purchases for quantity and quality.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints as required to perform tasks.

Self-Perform Duties

  • Installation of drywall and framing including but not limited to metal and wood framing, blocking, drywall hanging, finishing, repairs, and drywall ceilings with associated framing systems.
  • Installation of ACT, drywall grid, bulkheads, and other ceiling products.
  • Installation and repairs to doors, frames, and windows.
  • Must be able to install door hardware including panic devices, closers, lockset, and coordinators.
  • Rough carpentry including blocking, wood framing, sheathing, safety rails, steps and stringers, and temporary controls.
  • Painting and finishes as required.
  • Operating scissor and boom lifts.
  • Working from ladders and scaffolding.
  • Miscellaneous concrete placement, repairs, floor flash-patching.
  • Installation of toilet partitions and accessories.
  • Installation and modifications to millwork, cabinetry, and countertops.
  • Installation of flooring products such as VCT and vinyl base.
  • Demolition of interior and exterior finishes.

To Be Successful:

The SPD Carpenter must work in close collaboration with the office personnel and field personnel. Field staff may be, in addition to Subcontractors and Suppliers, SPD employees such as other Carpenters and Laborers. The relationship must allow for open discussion and exchange of ideas and must not be adversarial. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have 2-3 years' experience in commercial construction.
  • Must have a valid driver license with a clean driving record.
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED.
