Job Summary
The Electronic Security Technician - Level 3 (EST-3) is responsible for the installation, programming, testing, and delivery of Electronic Security Systems including Access Control Systems, Video Surveillance Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intercom, Emergency Call Systems, and other Life Safety systems. The EST-3 collaborates on the design and review of Electronic Security System projects, leads, and manages the on-site delivery and implementation of the system, maintains the integrity of the project plan in conjunction with the Project Manager, effectively solves installation or system problems, and trains and mentors junior team members.
Essential Functions
- Actively participates in the design and review process for assigned projects.
- Leads assigned installation projects for Electronic Security Systems of all sizes by:
- Effectively organizing, directing, and coordinating daily field activities
- Accurately installing Electronic Security system devices and components according to specifications
- Installing, terminating, and testing low voltage wiring
- Programing, system start up, and testing of installed systems
- Maintaining accurate field system installation documentation
- Collaborates with the Project Managers to ensure successful project delivery by:
- Reporting daily on project health
- Assisting in the development of project RFIs and change orders
- Working with GLX engineers or manufacturer support engineers to solve problems
- Coordinating complete and accurate closeout and turnover of project to End User and Service Department
- Trains, mentors, and develops EST-1 and EST-2 level team members.
Required Skills / Abilities
- Advanced Electronics and Circuit analysis skills
- Advanced knowledge of multimeter / cable testing / certification tools
- Advanced IT Networking skills
- Strong IT skills and the ability to utilize the Microsoft Office suite
- Skilled at reading, interpreting system, and maintaining accurate blueprints and schematics
- Proven track record of leading, coordinating, and directing multiple crews located at different job sites to effectively complete and close projects
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, modeling safe work habits, and safely using hand tools, power tools, lifts and hoists
- Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to successfully work with diverse groups
- Excellent organizational, time management, and reporting skills
- Bend, and lift items up to 50 pounds
Education and Experience
- Five or more years of experience working in the Electronic Security Industry
- IT Network Certification and/or demonstrated proficiency
- Working knowledge of safety requirements in a construction environment (PPE, OSHA, CPR)
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Current state and jurisdictional licensing (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
- Must be a US Citizen and a Government Security Clearance is Required.
Travel
Routine travel throughout the local Maryland/Virginia/DC is expected. Occasional out of area or overnight travel is possible.
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional office environment and off-site in finished and unfinished buildings. The EST-3 routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Compensation
- Salary $75k - $87k
- Health, dental and vision insurance available the 1st day of the month after 30 days of employment, company pays 50%
- Life insurance, short-term and long-term disability available the 1st day of the month after 90 days of employment, company paid, however employee can purchase supplemental life insurance for themselves and their dependents.
- 401(k) Safe Harbor Non-Matching Company Contribution of 4% available the 1st day of the month after 90 days of employment
- 15 Days PTO (pro-rated for the 1st year based on start date) available for use the 1st day of the month after 90 days of employment
