Career Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to act as a key player in the month-end close process supporting our programmatic work. In this role, the Senior Accounting Manager will ensure we have the procedures in place to support timely and accurate preparation of RIF's internal financial statements and foster an effective control environment for the organization. The Senior Accounting Manager will supervise the Project Accountant and work closely with the Programs and Content Teams to support effective program implementation and management, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can best support program operations. The ideal candidate has experience in project accounting and account reconciliations, is creative, and has an interest in building an effective financial infrastructure.

What you will be doing:
- Overseeing project/program and grants accounting; ensuring that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.
- Reviewing and posting all financial transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy of information maintained in the general ledger.
- Overseeing the preparation and review of account reconciliations each month that agree to the trial balance.
- Overseeing book operations to ensure accurate accounting of RIF's book awards liability and donated book inventory.
- Supporting the CFO/COO in the preparation of RIF's annual budget and periodic reforecasts to reflect programmatic funding and related expenses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required. Non-profit accounting experience a plus.
- Five to seven years relevant experience in accounting and/or audit and two to three years supervisory experience.
- Experience with financial/project reporting and data analysis.
- Detail oriented and highly organized.
- Ability and willingness to assume responsibility for and follow-up on multiple tasks in an efficient manner.
- High proficiency in Excel required; experience with Intacct and Insight software a plus.
- Collaborative working style and ability to establish strong working relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues.
