Job Summary
The Electronic Security Technician - Level 2 (EST-2) is responsible for the installation, programming, testing, and delivery of Electronic Security Systems including Access Control Systems, Video Surveillance Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intercom, Emergency Call Systems, and other Life Safety systems. The EST-2 possesses the experience to successfully complete installation projects with minimal supervision and may provide on-site direction and/or training to entry level technicians.
Essential Functions
- Accurately installs Electronic Security system devices and components according to specifications
- Installs, terminates, and tests low voltage wiring
- Programs, initiates system start up, and tests installed systems
- Maintains accurate field system installation documentation
- Provides direction or training to EST-1 as directed
Required Skills / Abilities
- Basic Electronics and Circuit analysis skills
- Basic knowledge and ability to use multimeter / cable testing tools
- Basic IT Networking skills
- Ability to read and interpret system blueprints and schematics
- Able to safely and properly use hand tools, power tools, lifts and hoists
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Good organizational, time management, and reporting skills
- Good IT skills and the ability to utilize the Microsoft Office suite
- Competent to work alone without direct supervision
- Bend and lift items up to 50 pounds
Education and Experience
- Graduation from high school or vocational school
- Two or more years of experience working in the physical security or low voltage industry
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to obtain state and jurisdictional licensing
- Must be a US Citizen and a Government Security Clearance is Required.
Travel
Routine travel throughout the local Maryland/Virginia/DC is expected.
Work Environment
This role primarily operates off-site in finished and unfinished buildings in a construction environment. The EST-2 routinely uses hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and hoists.
Compensation
- Salary $52k - $62k
- Health, dental and vision insurance available the 1st day of the month after 30 days of employment, company pays 50%
- Life insurance, short-term and long-term disability available the 1st day of the month after 90 days of employment, company paid, however employee can purchase supplemental life insurance for themselves and their dependents.
- 401(k) Safe Harbor Non-Matching Company Contribution of 4% available the 1st day of the month after 90 days of employment
- 15 Days PTO (pro-rated for the 1st year based on start date) available for use the 1st day of the month after 90 days of employment
