The Accounting and Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing timely and accurate processing of general accounting clerical functions including the processing of accounts payable, payroll and treasury transactions; while complying with company procedures and policies; and federal, state, and local regulations.

Education and/or Experience for the Accounting and Payroll Specialist

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred, or relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Payroll software experience helpful

Key Accountabilities: Accounts Payable

  • Review, verify, and code invoices and check requests
  • Set invoices up within system for payment, prepare and process check runs
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and monitor accounts due dates
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Maintain vendor files, ensuring required documentation is current
  • Monitor contracts and payments, create change order logs as needed
  • Prepare annual 1099s for vendor payments
  • Record all cash receipts
  • Prepare and distribute bi-weekly cash reports
  • Perform cash reconciliations
  • Initiate payments as needed in appropriate bank systems at the direction of management
  • Analyze bank fees, identifies and resolves discrepancies
  • Post transactions to ledger and complete journal entries for AP, payroll
  • Prepare Special Reports and Projects, as needed
  • Prepare and process biweekly payroll
  • Prepare annual payroll reports as required
