Port Discovery Children's Museum, one of the top Children's Museum in the United States and a top cultural institution in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, is seeking a customer service-oriented individual to join our Guest Services team as a part-time Guest Services Supervisor. The Supervisor assists in the daily operations of the Museum with a special focus on daily Guest Services operations, Museum Experience Associate (MEA) training and support, delivery of a welcoming, engaging, and safe experience for all visitors, as well as Museum security.

This is a part-time 29-hour per week position. Initial schedule will be Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Evening and holiday work may be necessary. There may be the opportunity to convert to full-time based on the operating needs of the museum.

The starting pay for this position is $14.25 per hour.

Port Discovery is seeking individuals who are:

  • Energetic, enthusiastic, creative, dependable and flexible.
  • Proactive and willing to jump in to support the team while ensuring excellent guest experiences.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Assists with Guest Services training program for new hires and works with Director & Associate Director of Guest Services to train new MEAs.
  • Supervises daily operation of exhibits, the guest experience, and Guest Services staff, including safety, staff/guest engagement, programming, material and supply levels, and overall guest experience.
  • Acts as the Manager-on-Duty, including responding to guest questions and concerns, if/as needed.
  • Coordinates with the Education and Exhibits Departments to ensure that all new programs and exhibits operate successfully each day and are delivered/maintained in a timely manner.
  • Assists with updating the Museum Experience and Security Associate manuals as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma necessary, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience working with children and/or in an education setting required.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management related experience required with a proven track record of working both independently as well as with a team, including training, setting expectations, and delegation.
  • Excellent communication, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills are required.
  • Customer service and/or hospitality experience a plus.
  • Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to tolerate moderate to loud noise level in the work environment.
  • Comfortable working amongst large crowds of children and caregivers.
  • Large portion of the time is standing and/or walking to coordinate the floor staff & exhibit spaces.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
