Arundel Federal Savings Bank seeks a Staff Accountant for the Glen Burnie, MD office.  The Staff Accountant will provide support on the Bank's general accounting and bookkeeping functions and assist with Cash Management, Wire Transfer, and Deposit operations.  Duties also include regulatory reporting and coordination with  various accounting functions.

As the Staff Accountant your responsibilities will include:

  • Process all debt and equity investment securities; includes purchases/maturities/calls, principal and interest receipts, dividends and interest accruals, market to market, and reporting.
  • Manage investment and correspondent bank cash management fund transfer processing, assist with other mortgage and customer funds transfers and Bank Secrecy Act reporting.
  • Process fixed assets and prepaid expense purchases, disposals/transfers, depreciation/amortization, maintenance contracts, and reporting.
  • Regulatory reporting including consolidated reports of condition and income (Call Report), FR2900, Regulation F, and others; requires detailed query and report writing and programming and analyses.
  • Manage the Bank's leases as lessor and lessee; manage compliance with leasehold contracts and oversee lease payables and rent receivables.
  • Process ground rent redemptions and registry and oversee monthly billings/collections and accruals.
  • Assisting the accounts payable functions.
  • General bookkeeping of receipts and expenses; process month end accruals and G/L, bank accounts, and DDA reconciliations.
  • Process and oversee year end 1099-Misc Income processing and 945 Federal Withholding reporting.
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with various applicable banking rules and regulations and accounting practices (GAAP, Wire Transfer Rules and Regulations, OFAC, and BSA).
  • Complete annual Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other bank compliance training.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Are you the one we need? If you are, you'll have these qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting or finance, and at least 2 years prior Accounting or Internal Audit experience. An AA in Accounting will be considered with additional work experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficient with PCs and Internet, including MS Office and other software applications and other office equipment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong service orientation and able to be a team player.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (file boxes).
