SF&C Insurance Associates (SF&C) ,an established employee insurance benefits administration company, seeks an experienced BA/ IT Professional to provide technical support for its custom service application and internal network. The application drives key processes and data allowing internal users to efficiently deliver complex financial administration functions. Business Analyst activities determine the internal requirements of company projects and/or programs; defining, documenting, prioritizing and communicating the requirements to external software partner and internal/external developers. This position may also provide IS/IT systems and infrastructure. This position is located on site in Owings Mills, MD. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Define system requirements to software vendors and implementing systems to maximize the efficiency of the users utilizing the software tools available to them.
  • Use strong operational knowledge and configuration acumen related to business applications in order to support all business processes.
  • Resolve software operational issues and errors and develop a solutions-focused team relationship with the software developer, perform database analysis, perform SQL queries.
  • Take an active role in developing and implementing the test plan of any software solution provided.
  • Enhance problem management process for IS/IT, including cause analysis, incident report creation, and follow-up and/or corrective measures.
  • Provide training and guidance to end users related to application configuration and functionality.
  • Manage and apply application releases and upgrades from the software developer.
  • Develop reports, either, ad-hoc or through the business requirements process.

Candidate will possess:

  • 7+ years demonstrated work experience as a Business Analyst in a small business environment operating in the Insurance industry
  • Knowledge of Third Party Administration activities helpful
  • Demonstrated experience defining system requirement to software vendors and implementing systems
  • Highly motivated, self-starting and independent thinking habits in a team environment
  • Advanced analytical and advanced problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate a business need to the programming staff
  • Knowledge of billing, collections and accounts receivable is very helpful
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products
  • Strong interpersonal skills needed to interact with all levels of the company

Education and Technical Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Systems Development or similar discipline
  • Database concepts knowledge and experience using MS SQL 2005, 2008 and 20012 querying capability or similar technology
  • APPX development platform programming a plus
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem resolution in Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 10 environments
  • Advanced skills in use and support for MS Office applications, Office 2003, 2010 and 2016
  • Proficient and/or knowledgeable in use of MS Exchange Server 2010, Active Directory, MS Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012
  • Knowledge of NEC phone systems and/or 8x8 cloud communications a plus

  • SonicWall TZ, ESA and SRA series devices
  • Ethernet Networking/Switching
