Our client located in the DC Metro area is looking for an exceptional contract manager who relishes the opportunity to be a leader and work with the CFO, HR and outside Legal to build a legal and compliance function from the ground up.

The right candidate for the job is ethical, hyper-organized, fanatical about seeing things through to completion, service-oriented, and humble enough to take feedback and coaching yet confident enough to provide feedback and coaching. The Contract Manager will have to wear several hats across commercial, Federal, procurement, compliance, and legal operations and must be OK with dealing with ambiguity in a fast-moving, venture-backed organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CFO, HR and outside Legal to build a world-class contracts dept. 
  • Draft and negotiate reseller/channel agreements, outbound SaaS subscription agreements, professional services agreements, evaluation agreements, NDAs, and other types of commercial, Federal and procurement agreements.
  • Drive negotiations through closing.   
  • Respond to RFP, RFI, and supplier diligence requests.
  • Come up with and drive contracting and operations process improvements to help the contracts function scale along with the Company, including interviewing, hiring and training employees and developing templates, playbooks and fallback clause libraries.
  • Manage contract repository and all contracting and legal request intake and tracking. 
  • Be a leader on the CFO's team and mentor other new hires throughout the Company.

Education & Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related field.
  • 4+ years' vendor management or similar vendor relations/sourcing experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance or equivalent experience/certifications.
  • Substantial experience and familiarity with the software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model, enterprise cloud computing, and related subscription agreements, licenses, professional service agreements, reseller agreements, and data privacy and security matters.
  • Sound and practical business judgment with excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proactive and maniacally focused on seeing things through completion.
  • Ambitious go-getter willing to roll up their sleeves; team-oriented and with a sense of humor.
  • Confidence to be a leader and make difficult and creative decisions, with a bias towards taking action to resolve issues in the best interest of the company.
